General Description of School

Sacred Heart University, established in 1963, is a coeducational independent institution of higher learning based in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition. All Nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The faculty of the Dr. Susan L. Davis, RN and Richard J. Henley College of Nursing (DHCON) is comprised of vibrant nurse educators with clinical expertise who value the caring-healing essence of nursing and are committed to educating students for clinical practice and leadership roles in healthcare. The CON offers the following degree programs: Associate of Science in Nursing, BS in Nursing, RN-BSN & RN-BSN-MSN Completion Programs, MS in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Clinical Nurse Leader, Nurse Educator, or in Nursing Management & Executive Leadership, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice. The DHCON offers Advanced Graduate Certificates for FNP & PMHNP, Nursing Education and Nurse Mangement and Executive Leadership.  A certificate program in Home Health Care Management is also offered. Many of the courses and programs are offered on-line. Inter-professional learning opportunities are provided in collaboration with the College of Health Professions.
